“Baby girl, you too fine for that bright a— lipstick!,” -said random man about my red lips
If you believe the gospel of the great poet laureate A$AP Rocky *rolls eyes* then if you’re a black woman of a non-fair complexion than a red pout is an absolute no-go. The Harlem rapper recently broke it down this way to The Coveteur;
“But for real, for me, I feel like with the red lipstick thing it all depends on the complexion. I’m just being for real. You have to be fair skinned to get away with that.”
Very soon you’ll be able to take a look into the lives of people who make their living writing online. Gavin “Truck” Turner (who’s very talented) is currently putting the finishing touches on his “Urban Blogger” documentary. In it you’ll follow the likes of Funky Dineva, Lexi With The Curls, Gyant of Gyant Unplugged, Donna of Brown Girl Next Door and many others. I’m also featured in it and will be focusing on my beauty blog (which you’re reading right now) and my fulltime position at RollingOut.com.
Truck recently released a trailer for the documentary and you can see me (and my fellow Hamptonian Ellaway) in it.
Should be pretty
embarrassing interesting! O_o
I’ll be sure to share the documentary as soon as it’s up! -danni
It’s been ages since I blogged, but what’s new? Lol
Over recent months I’ve been a busy bee with work and travel, so here’s a quick look at a few recent happenings in my life…
Update: FALSE ALARM, THIS HAIR IS FAB!
Added in some extra layers in the front in particular and I’m extremely happy with it. I love the black!
I recently did an interview with celebrity makeup artist Sam Fine when he was in Atlanta and he was not only FLAWLESS (the man looks like a painting…no lie), he was also very sweet and greeted me with a “Helloooo gorgeous.” Needless to say, I was in love. During our allotted time, we discussed Fashion Fair Cosmetics’ ‘Truly Treasured’ line and the stigma surrounding the black owned brand.
Check out my interview with Mr. Fine on RollingOut here…
So remember a few posts back when I said I was buying sneakers? “This is going to be my next spring trend to try; I’m officially going to buy a pair of sneakers. Cross your fingers that I actually like them, sneakers tend to make me feel like a boy. :-/”
A few weeks ago I made good on that promise and actually bought a pair, specifically the Reebok Chi-Chazes. These bad boys are uber cute and I picked them up in this vibrant melon orange and blue color. Adorable, right? Continue reading
*sighs* I miss this hair.
Although I’ve been on a on-again, off-again blogging hiatus, I’ve been compiling a list of things that I like or that I’m currently “digging” at the moment.(Corny I know…but work with me)
Included in that lineup is a comfy line of sweatshirts, a super sexy lipgloss and a makeup method I’ve almost mastered. Continue reading
About two weeks ago I decided to get individual lashes at a local nail salon here in Atlanta.
I normally wouldn’t get them done at a nail shop but my friend referred them to me after I noticed how natural but very pretty her lashes looked.
That was TWO weeks ago and my individuals are still going strong. (Knock on wood) Continue reading
Rapper Iggy Azalea has dropped another video from her Ignorant Art mixtape, this time titled “The Last Song.”
If you’re unfamiliar with Azalea, she’s an Australian model/rapper who’s said to have been a shoe-in for XXL’s annual ‘Freshmen’ cover.
I actually remember hearing about her a few years ago around the ATL music scene and thinking,”Why isn’t she famous?!” after seeing some of her Youtube clips. Continue reading
